Our 1st Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner and Membership Drive event was held on February 22, 2013. The event was a great success! Thank you to all the members, sponsors, our families and friends who attended and helped make this inaugural event a special evening. Also thank you to the Jacobs Center, whose celebration hall provided a warm and formal atmosphere for our event.
We were honored by the presence of SDPD Chief William Lansdowne, CVPD Chief David Bejarano, SDPD Assistant Chief Cesar Solis, City Council President Todd Gloria, and District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis.
The night began with the Presentation of Colors by the FALEO – SF Color Guard. Katriz Trinidad performed the Phillipines National Anthem and Chula Vista Police Officer Alicia Chudy performed the US National Anthem. Both singers gave stunning and memorable renditions.
Our Master of Ceremonies was Channel 10 news reporter Melissa Mecija. Melissa was professional, engaging, and helped to maintain the ambiance of the evening.
Entertainment was provided by the Puluhan Derobio Escrima group and the Pasacat Dancers. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the Escrima demonstration and authentic Filipino dances.
The dinner was succulent and delicious: White/brown rice, teriyaki chicken, pulled pork, lechon, lumpia, and steamed vegetables. Smiles were plentiful and plates abundant.
Raffles prizes included a Google Nexus, a $250 gift basket from the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, and gift certificates from Starbucks , Brazilian Jujitsu Gym, Family Dentistry of San Diego, and Stronghold Cross-Fit.
The evening concluded with the musical stylings of SOUND ILLUSIONS.
